FROM AIGUEBELLE TO EYGUEBELLE
From yesterday to today !
The abbey of AIGUEBELLE is located in a wooded valley, on the right bank of the Vence, a little above 200 m of altitude near Montjoyer for more than 880 years.
The foundation dates from June 26, 1137, when an abbot comes from Morimond with twelve monks, following the Cistercian tradition in this place.
In addition to their monastic life the monks continued the manual work, centuries-old heritage, this heritage, derived from the secrets, recipes and ancestral methods developed by the Cistercian monks of the abbey of Aiguebelle, has been protected and passed on from generation to generation.
They ensured the production of products such as: Chocolates with plants, liqueurs, fruit syrups, creams, candles.
Today, EYGUEBELLE continues this legacy with great respect since 1996.
In addition to recipes, it was necessary to re-acquire a specific artisanal know-how in herbal medicine: aromatic, choice of blends, infusion, distillation, art of the still…
The recipes of EYGUEBELLE plant liqueurs, for example, can contain more than 55 varieties of plants, wisely dosed and associated: some, very well known, such as mint, chamomile, thyme, lavender… and other rarer ones such as absynthe, aigremoine, vulnerability, angelica and myrtle
